Walnut Ridge Park
Improvements & Stream Restoration
Westerville, Ohio
The Walnut Ridge Park Improvements & Stream Restoration project aims to mitigate unwanted stormwater inundation and restore the stream’s health while simultaneously creating new park amenities. The design will lengthen the stream by introducing meanders, riffles, and pools, reduce bank slopes, and introduce a 3-acre wetland for additional water storage. The proposed program will respond to the new stream location and will include two new youth baseball fields, a basketball court, and expanded parking integrated in with the existing playground, restroom shelter, and foot bridges. ADA-accessible multiuse trails and boardwalks will internally connect amenities, and tie into existing trail systems. While employed with a previous firm, Karla Salmans served as Principal-in-Charge and project manager for landscape architectural design services from master planning through Design Development and federal permitting. The project is currently under construction and slated for completion in 2027.
